From Amsterdam with Love

 

I first met Benazir & Aqil in 2016 when they came to Amsterdam and wanted to do an engagement photo shoot here. They had come all the way from Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania. We got on well and made some great photos on the loveshoot walking around the Vondelpark and through Museumplein. I could tell they were such a fun couple and so wanted to keep in touch with them, as I do with all of my couples. So, we kept in touch now and again, and when 2018 came along they told me they were getting married. I said that I would love to photograph their wedding and so we agreed that I would.

I knew it would be an amazing wedding full of colour and spiritual events so I was really excited to be the wedding photographer for their wedding in Dar Es Salaam.

On the first day I was greeted so warmly by the family and welcomed into their home. Benazir was preparing for the first wedding day with some colourful and vibrant rituals, and having her henna tattoos done. At this point I knew the next couple of days were going to have some amazing moments to photograph. I wasn’t wrong!
